Celebrating Mothers

mothersday

Mother’s Day is coming up this weekend. According to StatisticBrain.com, the USA boasts a total of 85.4 million moms. The source calculates $671 billion will be spent on Mother’s Day cards and another $1.9 billion will be expended to buy moms flowers for Mother’s Day. For American consumers, that’s an average of about $168.94 paid out for each mom.

However, money can’t buy contentment or wholeness, thus this special day isn’t happy for everyone. Mother’s Day brings a gamut of crazy emotions of disappointment and sorrow—especially for the moms who have lost a child by disease, accidental death, or miscarriage, or are barren, never able to give birth to their own child.

I am praying over those who’ve suffered such tragedies, either by the broken state barrenness, unwelcome miscarriage, untimely death, or even a prodigal child, whose life has been lost in their addiction or choice of lifestyle. Please remember to pray for the mothers who are grieving on this Mother’s Day. Pray that they would turn to God to heal their damaged emotions and trust Him to bind up their wounds.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
