Happy New Year! How’s it going? By now some of us have tried and failed to implement new habits. Have you felt frustration, guilt, shame? God is the God of second chances. God is ready and willing to help us get up and start over again. I am praying for those of us who have already failed to follow through with our desired commitments.
Let’s not let last year’s failures define us. We can make an effort forward even if the path ahead is unclear. With God, the possibilities are endless.
Am I relying on His strength?
- Love God. “Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:37–38
- Be still. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted above the earth.” Psalm 46:10
- Pray on. “I pray for them, I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.” John 17: 9, 15
We began this first week of January 2020 with corporate prayer. The prayer time will continue at the Summit each Tuesday morning from 6-7 am and on Thursday mornings from 6-7 am Bakersfield will host the California Prayer Watch on zoom: https://zoom.us/j/5883098149 or by phone: 669-900-6833 Meeting ID 588 309 8149 – Won’t you join in the army of prayer warriors? You don’t even have to leave your home to participate.
Let’s pray: “Heavenly Father, thank you for a new beginning, a fresh start. Thank you for allowing us to start over. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Love and prayers, Sheryl
