What’s So Amazing about Grace?

Armor up! That’s what I did over the weekend. I am amazed at how God’s grace is always enough. When we need more of it, it is there for us. When we obediently put on our “spiritual armor” and fight the battle, we stand firm in the authority of Christ. The truth is, we are “more than conquerors” through the price He paid for us; we claim the victory that’s already won. At the Women’s Christian Life Retreat, women were set free; several received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior for the first time. Yet others understood the new identity Christ gave them when He took over their lives. For some, their eyes were opened to a new view of God’s amazing grace. “God made us alive together with Christ, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” Ephesians 2:6–7

What’s so amazing about grace? Everything. As believers, God’s grace engulfs us every single moment, but in the flurry of life, we overlook how involved God’s grace actually is in the minute details of our lives. I’ve been having numerous grace encounters lately. Maybe the close call with last week’s car accident woke me up. It could be the excitement and anticipation that in a few short days, I will celebrate a new beginning in my marriage to Jim. Remember, change is really hard for me; even positive change will be a big adjustment. So I remind myself of the precious and magnificent promises in God’s word. I keep remembering God has already paved the way for me: “I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8

Amazing graceSome of you might not know how you can even take the next step in life, let alone walk down the driveway to pick up the daily newspaper. It’s when we understand we cannot walk another inch forward without God’s grace that grace becomes most precious and most glorious. God will give you exactly what you need from Him. The best place to start is by admitting your need, ask Him for help. He will give you Himself, His understanding, His love. These are the grace encounters you can expect from your Heavenly Father who loves you more than you can even imagine. Do you need a grace encounter? Let me pray for you! “The Lord has said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.’ Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NASB

Dear Father, thank you for the recent grace encounters you’ve given me and many others. O Lord, we praise you for life through the death of your Son. Thank you for His resurrection from the grave. We thank you for making us alive in Christ. Thank you for the truth of grace, that it is your gift. We are honored, overwhelmed, humbled, favored, and ooooooh-so-thankful for your grace. Thank you for giving us grace encounters especially during seasons when we might take you for granted. We praise you, thank you, and say, Thank you for the all-sufficient, power-perfected in weakness stance we can confidently stand. Let us brag about our weaknesses so that your power will rest fully and completely on us. We give you glory. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
