Truth About The Mind

You have a choice. Yes, that’s right.

Joyce Meyer says, “Think about what you think about.” Your mind is like a landing strip and you are the air-traffic controller, you see your thoughts swirling around your mind, you give permission for your thoughts to land or not. How do we know the difference between truthful, faith-building, God-honoring thoughts over lying thoughts of deceit, doubt, despair? How can we claim the truth?

First let me explain these three truths about the mind of the believer:

  1. God gives each of us a sound mind.

When we receive Jesus as our savior, and the Holy Spirit took control of our being, we are submitting to and asking God to be in control. We have a choice to let God’s word renew our mind, refresh our spirit and reveal our attitudes as our motives are purified through seeking God’s will instead of our own.

“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

  1. The enemy wants to destroy our sound mind with his lies.

and would like to do anything he can to sabotage God’s plan and interrupt God’s blessings for us. We can know the truth and this truth helps us thwart doubt and deception by choosing to intercept and counteract lies with God’s truth – the Word of God, also called the Sword of the Spirit. (The Armor of God in Ephesians 6)

“This is say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.” Ephesians 4:17-18

  1. We have a choice about what we allow in our minds. We can control what we think.

No matter what is happening in our lives, we must choose to continue to stay focused on the God who loves us. We can keep his word in front of us and he will help us get rid of negative emotions.

We don’t have to put up with turmoil or wrong attitudes; we can praise Him in the midst of any trial or trauma.

in our midst and our own transformation is found when we shine the light of God’s word and bring deceit into the illuminating presence of God.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing our your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

Today claim your victory over doubt, denial and deceit by standing firm on the truth.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Isaiah 26:3

“”Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Let’s pray, Father God, thank you for helping us understand the truth. We need your protection and strength through the shed blood of Jesus to implement the truth. Thank you for your presence that reigns as we praise you in truth. In Jesus name, Amen
