Victory In Christ Requires Cooperation

Armor up! When we pray Scripture, we are doing battle God’s way. The battle is not against flesh and blood. 2 Corinthians 10:4 reminds us,  “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” Obeying God’s instructions, we put on our ‘spiritual armor’ and stand firm in the authority of Christ.

Ephesians 6:10-18 says, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

We are ‘more than conquerors,’ through the priceless blood of Jesus shed for us; we claim the victory that’s already won. It helps to own the new identity Christ gave us when He took over our lives. “God made us alive together with Christ, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6-7).

Do you wonder how you will continue to fight the battles that rage in your life, family, ministry, or neighborhood? Let’s choose to lay claim on the victory God has prepared, using His Word as a sword, His Spirit as our guide, and His presence as our hope. God will meet us and give us what we need. “The Lord has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me” (2 Corinthians12:9, NASB).

Let’s pray,

“Dear Heavenly Father, I want victory. Lord, I take up your Word and use it as my weapon – “If God is for me, who can be against me?” (Romans 8:31). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
